A project five years in the making at the Trigg County Recreation Complex is taking off after approval from magistrates Monday night.
Magistrate Barry Littlejohn, a member of the county’s Building and Grounds Committee, recommended they move forward and work with Reynolds Construction. Judge-Executive Stan Humphries shared their bid came in at $246,800.46 and was the lowest of three provided for the project.
The Land, Water, Conservation Fund grant will pay up to 50% of the project cost, and the county is able to do in-kind work to provide that match. Construction will begin soon and must be completed by September in order to fully meet the grant requirements.
The restroom/concession facility was constructed in the early 1980s. It was originally built for the horse arena and other race tracks built on the complex property in the 1970s.
Following the fiscal court meeting, Building and Grounds committee members Littlejohn, Mike Wright, and chair Jeff Broadbent began brainstorming ideas on how to continue operating a concession stand this spring while construction is underway. A final decision was not made Monday night.
