Hopkinsville-Christian County’s Leadership Program announced Wednesday the beginning of a community-wide fundraising initiative — one that will be used to support Jeffers Bend Environmental Center and Botanical Garden.

Considered a vital outdoor education and recreation space serving Hopkinsville-Christian County and beyond, Jeffers Bend is a 40-acre nature preserve. It has walking trails, fishing opportunities, and hosts numerous educational programs for children and families.

It also serves as a hands-on learning environment that fosters environmental awareness and appreciation of Kentucky’s natural beauty.

Continued maintenance and development of this treasured space greatly rely on community support.

In a written statement, Leadership Program student Elizabeth Grant said they are calling on local businesses, organizations and individuals to join them in preserving this “incredible resource for future generations.”

Looking to raise awareness and encourage donations, a special video highlighting the importance of Jeffers Bend and the need for financial support has been created — and placed on the Leadership Christian County’s Facebook page.

Questions can be sent to Grant by e-mail: egrant@copperbandtech.com.

Donations can be made to Pennyrile Resource Conservation and Development Area and mailed or delivered to:
Attn: Katey Barnett
PO Box 1570, Hopkinsville, KY 42240

Leadership Hopkinsville-Christian County works diligently to develop and manifest leadership potential within the community — by bringing together individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences who have a demonstrated talent and commitment to leadership.
