Dawson Springs is among 19 Kentucky Trail Towns that have been awarded grant funding to repair, enhance, and promote projects aimed at improving the quality of life in Kentucky and attracting visitors from both the commonwealth and around the globe.
In his Team Kentucky Update on Thursday morning, Governor Beshear revealed the Kentucky Trail Towns communities that will receive a share of $543,374 in grant funding.
click to download audioLast year, Governor Beshear signed legislation that allocated $720,000 to support a new Kentucky Trail Town grant program. According to state officials, Certified Kentucky Trail Towns can receive up to $30,000 in funding for recreational projects, which include trail development and maintenance, project enhancements, and marketing efforts.
The Kentucky Trail Town program is a tourism and economic initiative aimed at providing communities with a strategic plan to leverage recreational opportunities. Each Trail Town has made the public commitment to sharing its outdoor activities, culture, history, and stories with visitors seeking adventure.
