Following a successful career at Christian County High School, Western Kentucky University and later overseas, former basketball star Arnika Brown received a legacy gift for the ages earlier this week — when a newly-installed street sign was revealed at the intersection of Lovers Lane and Fort Campbell Boulevard.

From 2006 until 2006, she put up 1,779 career high school points, she is a Kentucky High School Hall of Fame inductee who had her jersey retired in 2016.

Listed as a 6-2 forward, Brown averaged 12.1 points, 9.9 rebounds and 1.4 steals in 117 collegiate games for the Lady Toppers from 2007 until 2011 — including 62 starts through her junior and senior seasons. She shot 53.2% from the field and 60% from the charity stripe, and was a prolific offensive rebounder — averaging 4.1 per game throughout her time in Bowling Green.

In a 2012 profile from former Bowling Green Daily News reporter Zach Greenwell, Brown eventually “found a groove” playing basketball in Prague, Czech Republic, where during the 2011-12 season she averaged 11.6 points, 12.8 rebounds and 30 minutes in 21 games for DSK Karlin — where she was named to Eurobasket.com’s All-Czech Republic honorable mention team, as well as the all-imports team.

Her 12.8 rebounds per game actually led the ZBL League that season.

In her 2012-13 campaign for DSK Karlin, she played an average 22.6 minutes in 18 games, putting up 8.1 points and 8.3 rebounds a contest.

Now a resident of New York, she also was Kentucky’s “Miss Basketball” in 2006.
