A report of a disturbance on Clark Store Sinking Fork Road in Christian County reportedly led to shots being fired at law enforcement and a man being killed Sunday morning.
Kentucky State Police say Christian County Sheriff’s deputies were called for a disturbance, and when deputies arrived, 39-year-old Patrick Martinez fired shots at them, and they returned fire, hitting and killing Martinez.
Christian County Sheriff’s deputies say the original call was a report of Martinez who was trying to burn the house down, had assaulted someone in the home, and fired a gun.
Deputies say they talked with Martinez from outside the home but he started shooting then exited the home and fired at them.
Martinez was pronounced at the scene by the Christian County Coroner’s Office.
No one else was injured in the shooting, and Kentucky State Police are investigating the incident.
