The inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award, Farmer of the Year, and Agribusiness of the Year honors were presented during the Christian County Salute to Agriculture breakfast Tuesday morning at the Bruce Convention Center.
Christian County Agribusiness Association awards committee member Brandon Garnett presented the first Kentucky Agriculture Lifetime Achievement Award to Wayne Hunt.
Hunt said he was honored to receive the award.
Agriculture Committee member Josh Ryan named Dixon Farms Farmer of the Year for 2025. Donnie and Seldon Dixon, III, were recognized for their work on the family farm over the years and their service to the community.
Committee member Alan Watts presented the Agribusiness of the Year award to Higgins Insurance Agency, with Watts noting the company’s 125-year commitment to the community and agriculture.
Troy Goode Memorial Scholarships were presented to Mollie Goode, Cheyanne Rodger’s, Micah Goode, Bailey Kington, and Rebecca Wood.
To conclude the breakfast a country ham basket was sold to H & R Agripower for $12,000. The proceeds from the auction will be split between Christian County 4-H, the Hopkinsville and Christian County FFA chapters, and the Troy Goode Memorial Scholarship fund.
