For more than two decades, Deepak Patel has been a key member of the Cadiz-Trigg County Tourist Commission — the last few years serving as its board chairman.

During Thursday afternoon’s meeting, Executive Director Beth Sumner confirmed Patel had resigned this post through a submitted letter — in which he intends to remain a part of the group’s leadership, but needed to take a step back to focus on health and family.

Trigg County Schools Director of Operations Matt Ladd was nominated and elected as the next chairman.

In other Trigg-Cadiz tourism news:

— In a Parks & Recreation update, Ladd said the remodeled West Cadiz Park continues to be slammed with public attendance. Looking to keep mud and dirt off of the rubber surface, they will be reviewing purchases for new sod and straw blankets to place around the digging.

Furthermore, Ladd said they are going to be reviewing the scope of the next big project, which will likely need to include city and county support, tourism support and grant underwriting.

— Sumner unveiled a new letterhead logo for “GoCadiz.com,” in what is a sans serif font, a bridge to the left, and a curved path underlining the heading. The revamped website, she said, should be available by mid-to-late May in a total rebranding.

There is already an updated version of the Trigg County Country Ham Festival website, to be branded under trigghamfest.com.

— Sumner said a handful of ads for the community will be released soon, including one during Paducah’s popular “Quilt Week,” one in Fort Campbell’s year-long magazine, one in Paducah’s Posh Magazine, one in Fort Campbell Life Magazine, and one in Kentucky Living Magazine.

Except for the “Quilt Week” ad, Sumner said she had a hand in the design.

— Sumner confirmed that their tourism ARPA funds have been spent effectively on the mobile kiosks and closed out, coming in at $5 over the grant’s allotment.
