Authorities have released the name of a man killed in a single-vehicle wreck on Barkers Mill Road in Christian County Sunday afternoon.
Christian County Sheriff’s deputies say a car driven by 24-year-old Lexington Gaines of Clarksville was westbound when it ran off the road and collided with a tree.
A passerby stopped and tried to get to Gaines, but the car caught fire, and Gaines was trapped inside.
The Christian County Coroner’s Office released Gaines’s name after being able to identify him during the investigation and notifying his family.
The crash happened near the intersection of Carter Road.
Deputies were assisted by Hopkinsville EMS, the Christian County Coroner’s Office, Oak Grove Fire Department, and Christian County Rescue.
