
A wreck on US 68 at the intersection of I-24 in Trigg County sent six people to the hospital Tuesday afternoon.
Trigg County Sheriff Aaron Acree says an SUV driven by Edward Smith of Illinois was exiting onto US 68 from I-24 and collided with an eastbound van driven by Carl Spurlin of Clinton.
The crash caused Edward Smith’s SUV to overturn trapping two of his passengers inside who were freed by Trigg County Rescue after the windshield was cut away.
Carl Spurlin was taken by ambulance to Jennie Stuart Health for injuries, his wife Delores Spurlin was flown to a Nashville hospital due to her injuries.
Edward Smith and his three passengers were taken by ambulance to Trigg County Hospital for injuries.
Acree says the crashes under investigation but none of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening.
Cadiz Police Department Chief Tyler Thomas says a second wreck happened shortly after the first on US 68 at Rocky Ridge Road that led to traffic east and westbound to be blocked temporarily.
Tyler says only minor injuries were reported and the patient did not require transport to the hospital.
