Christian County Officials Hoping 2025 Isn’t a Repeat of 1997

The projected severe weather for this week has emergency officials in Christian County preparing for whatever the storm system brings.

Emergency Management Director Randy Graham says they have been meeting with the different city and county agencies to formulate a plan for this week.

click to download audioForecasters have been calling for severe weather for this week since the weekend, with up to 10 inches of rain possible. Graham says the amount of advanced warning is similar to what Gulf Coast residents get ahead of a hurricane.

click to download audioThe record three-day rainfall for Christian County is 10.85 inches in March of 1997. Graham remembers as many as 100 people had to be rescued from their homes as the water rose quickly along the Little River.
