Deaconess Health System’s pending acquisition of Hopkinsville’s Jennie Stuart Health has now garnered some national attention.

In a recent article titled “Five hospital deals ASCs need to know in 1 month” by Becker’s ASC Review, the purchase was listed third, it noted that the Evansville, Indiana, company has signed a definitive agreement to purchase the 194-bed acute care hospital.

And, as part of the deal, Deaconess will reportedly invest at least $95 million into the Hopkinsville landscape, while fully funding the transition to the Epic electronic health record system — a move that would have cost JSH between $40 to $60 million on its own.

The other four advisories included Prime Healthcare’s acquisition of eight Ascension hospitals in Illinois, Duke Health and Novant Health partnering to expand care access in North Carolina, the sale of two Community Health Systems assets to Advent Health valued at $260 million, and the joining of Doylestown Health to Penn Medicine this April.

Becker’s ASC, or Ambulatory Surgery Center, Review, is a consistent bimonthly publication and online service that provides business, legal and clinical guidance on topics relevant to outpatient surgery, and it covers various specialties such as orthopedics, spine, gastroenterology, neurosurgery, ophthalmology, ENT and anesthesiology.
