KYTC Turns Attention To Cerulean Road Overpass

Beginning Sunday, April 6, a contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has plans for a nighttime work zone lane restriction along Interstate 24 eastbound near the 62-mile marker in Trigg County.

Traffic will be restricted to one lane from 9 PM until 6 AM nightly, as a crew works to repair damage to steel beams along the KY 124/Cerulean Road overpass.

Crews will be working in the right-hand lane. Drivers should be alert for signs and message boards directing all traffic to shift to the left-hand, passing lane in the work zone.

Furthermore, there will also be a lane restriction on KY 124/Cerulean Road at the 3.84-mile point in Trigg County, near this overpass. A temporary traffic signal will be installed Friday, which will control alternating traffic flow on the overpass when work begins later this weekend.

Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed around April 18.

In June of last year, bridge inspectors found evidence the steel beams that support the overpass had been struck by a passing truck and some non-structural pieces of concrete edging had fallen into and along I-24.
