Not even a flood could stop G & S Embroidery & Screenprinting from doing business.

Owners Richard Shaw and Nick Gresham met at the business Friday morning after the first round of three day storms. Gresham recalled having to take the interstate down to Fort Campbell and then enter Hopkinsville from the back way, after most of the roads near his home were closed. When he got there the water had risen to the parking lot. Shaw said they had about an hour to move everything up.

According to Shaw, floodwaters eventually rose to around two and a half feet inside the building. Once the water receded Saturday they started minor clean-ups knowing more rain was coming. Major clean-ups were saved for Monday.

Gresham says past flooding was, “nothing like this time.”

All customer merchandise was saved along with the more critical items, like the computer system. With some heavy cleaning, the embroidery and screenprinting machines were operational within a week.

Despite the unexpected challenges, G & S Embroidery’s quick response has kept business on track.
