PACI Announces Revival of a Summer Classic: Picnic with the Pops!
Fundraiser to feature the Fabulous Equinox Orchestra and virtual silent art auction
Mark your calendar for the revival of a Hoptown classic: Picnic with the Pops! featuring the Fabulous Equinox Orchestra, an outdoor fundraiser, and virtual silent art auction as the Pennyroyal Arts Council’s annual fundraiser on Friday, May 7th.  The soulful big band the Fabulous Equinox Orchestra will entertain from the Arthur Plaza on 6th street with timeless favorites for fans of every genre – a dash of Motown, a shot of Country, some folk and rock sprinkled on top – and the stories behind them serving up a musical banquet that feeds every soul.
Patrons at the event will be encouraged to decorate their tables in New Orlean style and support local downtown restaurants with take-out orders in advance for the outdoor show. Participating restaurants include The Mixer, The Local, Butter and Grace, Hopkinsville Brewing Company, Southern Belle Catering, and Jennie’s Place.
Experiences for the fundraiser range from The Royal Court, a VIP experience with premium seating for a table of eight at $75/ticket to Throws, or lawn seating in front of the Courthouse at $25/ticket.
The virtual silent art auction will include artwork and woodwork from local artists, Alhambra Theatre relics, experiences, and more. Items up for bid include original metal curtain pulleys, sets of original auditorium chairs, a privately catered dinner party for 24 in the upstairs lobby The Hall, framed vintage jeweled trees, and works of art from the Hopkinsville Art Guild members.
“We’ve created a unique silent auction experience with the highlight of the evening featuring a live bidding for a chance to play or sing with the orchestra,” said Executive Director Margaret Prim.
