The League of Women Voters Hopkinsville Host A Virtual Legislative Redistricting Forum

The League of Women Voters Hopkinsville will be hosting a virtual Legislative Redistricting Forum Tuesday, September 21 at 6:00 – 7:30 to share information about Kentucky’s 2020 Census data along with draft maps of legislative districts. The purpose is to seek citizen input on how the public could be better represented in their districts. As Kentucky state legislators begin to redraw district boundary lines to accommodate shifts in population within the state, the League is encouraging the community to share their ideas for new maps of voting districts. Regardless of ethnicity, zip code or interest, citizens need to be fairly represented in Frankfort and in Washington.
LWV will be sharing how boundaries can be drawn more fairly, solicit public input, and then draw recommended maps using the same mapping software used by state lawmakers. The presentations will include opportunities to ask questions and provide feedback so that all opinions may be taken into account.
