Fall Wild Edibles Hike Series 2021

People have enjoyed nature’s bounty for centuries and here in western Kentucky, our forests produce many treats! We’ll go for a 1-mile hike to learn how to identify these items as they grow in the wild! See below for specific dates, times, and registration info (Mushroom Foray only) for our upcoming hikes!
Saturday, September 25
2:30pm-3:30pm – Going Nuts
Join a naturalist on a 1-mile hike for an in-depth look at popular local nut trees! Learn about acorns and black walnuts, and ways to process and use them! Hike will last 1 hour. Free with Nature Station admission.
Saturday, October 9
11:00am-12pm – Nature’s Bounty
People have enjoyed nature’s bounty for centuries and here in western Kentucky, our forests produce many treats! We’ll go for a 1-mile hike to learn how to identify these items as they grow in the wild! Hike free with Nature Station admission.
Saturday, October 16
2:30-3:30pm – Mushroom Foray
**Must pre-register and pre-pay NS admission to attend the hike. Limited spots available. Call 270-924-2020 to reserve.**
Join Susan Eizenga, a local and experienced mushroom forager, on a hike dedicated to our favorite fungus friends! Susan has studied mushrooms, primarily edibles, for several years. She is also Vice President of the Bluegrass Mycological Society and has assisted in leading mushroom forays at the Tellum All festival in Indiana since its inception in 2013.
