Museum Executive Director Alissa Keller explores the winter of 1838 in Hopkinsville and Christian County. During this winter, members of the Cherokee Nation marched through the middle of the county and camped here as they were forcibly removed from their ancestral lands. Keller shares what is known of their experiences here and of the death and burial of two of their leaders. Hopkinsville’s spot along the Trail of Tears connects our community to one of the darkest chapters in our nation’s history.
