Officers say they noticed movement on the driver's side of the vehicle and then heard a gun being racked and gun shots being fired from the SUV. Police set up a perimeter and a K-9 was brought to the scene and tracked the subject, identified as 34-year old Levi West, in the woods where he was apprehended. Police reportedly recovered two handguns and a knife, and determined that West was firing a handgun in the direction of the officers.

West was charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Evading Arrest, three counts of Driving on a Suspended or Revoked License, Reckless Driving, and Driving an Unregistered Vehicle. Police say West has an extensive criminal history involving assault, robbery, and aggravated burglary, and is already on state probation.
