Three people were injured in a two-vehicle wreck in Logan County Thursday afternoon.

The Logan County Sheriff’s Department reports deputies responded to the intersection of Terry Wilcutt and Stuart Smotherman Road at 12:20 and found on of the driver’s, 30-year old Francisco Salinas, of Alabama, trapped inside a vehicle. Salinas was extricated from the vehicle by the Jaws of Life and reportedly flown to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville for treatment of facial and head injuries. Deputies say his passenger, 35-year old Waleemar Mejia of Pelham, Alabama, was transported by ambulance to the emergency room at Logan Memorial Hospital and then later transported to Skyline Medical Center for possible internal injuries. The driver of the second vehicle, 35-year old Joshua Parker of Lewisburg was also transported to Logan Memorial to be checked for possible injuries.

According to the report, Parker stated the collision occurred when he was crossing Terry Wilcutt from Stuart Smotherman Road and didn’t see Salinas’ vehicle traveling north on Terry Wilcutt with other traffic due to a semi-tractor that distracted him. Deputies report the impact of the collision pushed Salinas’ vehicle into the guard rail at the intersection, causing severe damage to both vehicles.

The sheriff’s office is continuing to investigate the crash.
