Severe thunderstorms packed a strong punch as they tracked across Christian County Thursday evening around 5:30. Christian County Emergency Manager Randy Graham tells the News Edge damage was reported mainly in the southern portion of the county.
Graham says that crews were able to get roads cleared quickly.
According to Brent Gilkey from Pennyrile Electric, about ten outages were reported across Christian and Trigg counties. He says that most power outages were caused by wind damage and tree limbs.
Crews with Hopkinsville Electric System reported numerous outages across the city, and crews worked to fix the issues. Power was restored to HES customers around 8:45 pm.
The storms caused the Hoptown Hoppers to cancel their game against the Owensboro River Dawgs Thursday night. No word on when that game will be rescheduled.
