A Hopkinsville woman was arrested Tuesday afternoon after she allegedly abused a one-year old child.
The Christian County Sheriff’s Office reports deputies were called to a home on Quisenberry Lane Tuesday afternoon at 4:00 where the caller stated that 27-year old Courtney Munro had been abusing her child. Upon arrival, deputies say Munro stated she just spanked the child for misbehavior, but the caller said she witnessed Munro shake her one-year old child, strike him in the face with an open hand, and throw him down on the bed in the bedroom and then scream in the child’s face.
According to deputies, the child had bruising on the back of his right leg, as well as his shin area. The Department of Community Based Services responded to the home and assisted in the initial investigation. The deputy says he spoke to two additional adult witnesses, who signed statements indicating they saw the same incident.
Munro was taken into custody and booked into the Christian County Jail charged with 3rd Degree Criminal Abuse.
