A Hopkinsville man was arrested Friday night on a warrant for burglary after a dispute with a former coworker. Hopkinsville Police say 36-year old Ryan Barnett was taken into custody at a home in the 3600 block of Velma Drive at 8:35 p.m.

Barnett and a male victim were both allegedly fired from their place of employment. According to the warrant, the victim believed he was fired based upon lies told by Barnett, so in turn the victim divulged information regarding Barnett which led to him also being terminated. Barnett went to the victim’s residence on June 6 and beat on the front door until the victim’s 11-year old daughter opened the door. At that time, the warrant states Barnett forced his way into the home and the victim picked up a baseball bat and then put it down because his family was in the living area. Barnett reportedly grabbed the bat and began to swing it, and hit the 11-year old girl in the head, leaving a small bruise. Barnett then left the home prior to the arrival of police.

Barnett was lodged in the Christian County Jail charged with 1st Degree Burglary.
