A 77-year old man has died after he was hit by a vehicle in Clarksville Monday morning. Clarksville Police Sergeant Charles Gill identified the pedestrian as Franklin Massie.
Officers responded to the crash around 4:25 a.m. at 41-A Bypass and Vista Lane. According to witness statements to police, Massie stepped out in front of a vehicle and the driver attempted to avoid the collision but was unsuccessful. Massie was flown by LifeFlight to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville where he died from his injuries.
At this point in the investigation, Sgt. Gill says it appears alcohol and speed are not a factor. Police are continuing to investigate.
