Man Arrested On Child Sexual Exploitation Charges

Authorities say an undercover investigation into internet crimes against children led to the arrest of a Calloway County man Tuesday night on charges related to distribution and possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor.

Kentucky State Police report 38-year old Derik G. Timmons of Almo was taken into custody by the KSP Electronic Crime Branch just before 6:20 p.m after their investigation discovered he was sharing files of child sexual exploitation online. The investigation resulted in the execution of search warrant at a residence in Almo on Tuesday where police say they seized equipment used to facilitate the crime. The equipment was taken to KSP’s forensic laboratory for examination.

Timmons is lodged in the Calloway County Jail currently charged with three counts of distribution of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor, twenty counts of possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor, and one count of tampering with physical evidence. State Police note each charge is a Class-D felony punishable by one to five years in prison.

The investigation is ongoing.
