Officials Beyond Pleased With Summer Salute Turnout

Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation officials estimate over 25,000 people attended the 3rd Annual Summer Salute Festival in downtown Hopkinsville over the weekend.

Following an outpouring of positive feedback and enthusiastic response, Superintendent Tab Brockman says dates have already been set for next year’s version of the event. The 4th Annual Summer Salute Festival will be held August 23-24, 2019. Brockman adds event organizers have already begun seeking sponsorships and will start accepting vendor applications September 7 through an online registration process.

Mayor Carter Hendricks says they’re excited at the continued popularity and growth of the Summer Salute Festival.

With over 25,000 visitors, they know Summer Salute had a tremendous impact on downtown and the community. He states they look forward to making next year’s event even bigger and better as they bring world-class musical talent, family-friendly activities, and over 100 vendors to downtown Hopkinsville.

The Mayor says since rebranding and restructuring from the event formerly known as Little River Days, The Summer Salute has become a great event in Hopkinsville.

Brockman says the Summer Salute featured 90 vendors and six free concerts during the two day event and brought in a total of 75,000 in three years, with no signs of slowing down.

Officials indicate the Sawyer Brown concert Saturday, sponsored by Pennyrile Electric and Fortera Credit Union, reportedly brought in 14,000 people to downtown Hopkinsville during the second day of the event alone.

Brockman says hundreds of people responded to an informal online Facebook poll Monday, providing an array of suggestions on which bands and performers should be considered in 2019.
