The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is looking for a 53-year old man wanted in connection to a murder in Stewart County, Tennessee and a home invasion in Montgomery County. TBI officials say Kirby Gene Wallace has been added to the Top Ten Most Wanted List.
Kirby is wanted by the TBI and Stewart County Sheriff’s Office on several charges including murder, attempted murder, aggravated arson, and aggravated kidnapping in connection to an incident in Indian Mound last weekend. Reports indicate a couple returned home from church Sunday and walked into their Rorie Hollow Road home while a robbery was in progress. Wallace then allegedly bound the victims, beat them, set the home on fire and stole a vehicle. The female victim, 63-year old Brenda Smith, was killed by the suspect. Authorities said the male victim was able to break free and ride his lawnmower to a neighbors house to ask for help. He then reportedly rode back to the house and pulled his wife from the burning home.
Kirby is additionally wanted by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office to face charges of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated burglary, and theft in connection to a home invasion that occurred in the 1600 block of River Road. The Sheriff’s office says the victim, who is an elderly woman in her 80s, was returning home from church when Wallace Stopped her at her car and forced her into her home at knifepoint. Inside the home, authorities say Wallace displayed a rifle and made numerous threats to harm her and others. He then disassembled the victim’s phone, tied her to her bed, and fled in her vehicle.
The sheriff’s office says Kirby may be driving a stolen 2013 Ford Focus with a Tennessee license plate number 636KTW.
Kirby is described as a white male who stands 5’10 and weighs approximately 157 pounds. He has brown and gray hair and hazel eyes.
Anyone with information about Wallace’s whereabouts should call TBI at 1-800-TBI-FIND. According to TBI, there is an award of up to $2,500 for information leading to his arrest.
