Trigg Fiscal Court Looking To Lower Speed Limit Of Road

Trigg County Fiscal Court magistrates are continuing to look into lowering the speed limit on King’s Chapel Road in the eastern portion of the county.
Magistrates heard some of the research from Judge-Executive Hollis Alexander during Monday evening’s meeting about the speed limits on the road.

Alexander adds he will ask the state to provide a recommendation on what the speed limit should be for King’s Chapel Road.

No action was taken by magistrates. The speed limit is currently 55 MPH, but residents have complained that it is too fast for the road.

Magistrate John Gray brought up that construction on the 68/80 bypass near the Highway 139 intersection continues to be a dangerous area.

Magistrate Mike Wright says the court needs to continue to work with the state to see if stoplights need to be put in place along intersections of the bypass.

In other business, magistrates approved a resolution designating the Cadiz-Trigg County Industrial Authority to receive funds from the Tennessee Valley Authority under the Regional Development Agency Assistance Program.

Alexander made magistrates aware that the county is looking for a new treasurer.

Tammy Groves, who is the current treasurer, is retiring from the position.
