Community members gathered to remember Hopkinsville Police Officer Phillip Meacham during the inaugural memorial 5K run/walk held Saturday.
Organizer for the event, Christian County Sheriff’s Deputy Sean Head tells the News Edge the run/walk featured hundreds of people following the route in downtown Hopkinsville.
Officer Meacham lost his life earlier this year, Head says he was like family.
The 5K run/walk raised over $6,500, with the money going towards providing assistance to law enforcement agencies throughout Kentucky to help purchase equipment they can not afford. Head adds they are also planning a golf tournament in memory of Meacham for the spring of 2019.
