Police say a Hopkinsville man whose vehicle was found parked on the railroad tracks and needed to be removed by a tow truck was arrested for DUI and other charges.
Hopkinsville Police report when officers approached 29-year old Curtis Smith around 1:20 Saturday morning at East 10th and South Campbell streets he had a strong odor of alcoholic beverages on his breath, slurred speech and could not maintain his balance. Police say Smith admitted to drinking two beers and smoking marijuana two days ago, which they say a test showed otherwise. They also found an open pint of vodka and an open whiskey bottle.
Smith was booked into the Christian County Jail charged with operating a motor vehicle under aggravating circumstances, possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a vehicle, operating on a suspended license, and other offenses.
