Ribbon Cutting Set For Hopkinsville’s Newest Park

The public is invited to the official ribbon cutting for 2nd Street Park later this month. Hopkinsville Mayor Carter Hendricks is encouraging everyone to attend the celebration as they open the new park on Hopkinsville’s East Side.

Mayor Hendricks says in a release they know that parks and green spaces are vital in helping residents enjoy a better quality of life, increase property values, and improve public safety. He adds they look forward to kids, families, and residents of all ages enjoying this newest addition to the neighborhood. He says it is their hope that 2nd Street Park fosters a greater sense of pride in our city and allows residents to enjoy a happier, healthier life in Hopkinsville.

The 2nd Street Park is part of the Hopkinsville-Christian County WINS projects authorized by City Council in collaboration with Inner City REZ, CDBG, and Section 108 loan funding. The $568,000 recreational development located next to 754 East 2nd Street features a playground, basketball court, pavilion, restroom facilities, parking, and lawn areas for gatherings. The community center adjacent to the new park continues to be used for private rentals.

The ribbon cutting ceremony will begin at 2:00 Tuesday afternoon, October 30.
