Atkins To Become Hopkinsville Police PIO Monday

The Hopkinsville Police Department is welcoming a new Public Information Officer November 26.
Officer Mike Atkins

Public Information Officer Lt. Kyle Spurlin says he will be stepping down from his duties at the end of this week. Spurlin said he will be returning to patrol duties and will replace Lt. Tyler DeArmond, who was recently elected Christian County Sheriff.

Officer Mike Atkins will take over the Public Information Officer duties November 26. Officer Atkins says he is excited about his new post.

Atkins says he is also looking forward to serving as coordinator of the Hopkinsville-Christian County Crimestoppers Program.

He credits current PIO Lt. Kyle Spurlin with providing some great training for his new duties.

Although he won’t be patrolling on a regular basis, Officer Atkins says people will still see him out on one of the two Hopkinsville Motorcycle Patrol units.

Atkins will also begin his duties as Crimestoppers Coordinator November 26.
