Dawson Springs Man Charged With Drug Trafficking

A search warrant executed at a home in Christian County Thursday afternoon led to the arrest of a Dawson Springs man for drug trafficking.

Detectives with the Madisonville/Hopkins County Vice/Narcotics Unit say the search warrant was part of a month’s long investigation after they utilized a confidential source to make controlled purchases of over 1/4 pound of suspected crystal methamphetamine from 46-year old Jimmy Abbott at his home located at 19187 Dawson Springs Road. During the search, detectives seized several ounces of suspected crystal meth, suspected marijuana, drug paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking, a large amount of cash and three handguns. Abbott was arrested in Madisonville by Kentucky State Police detectives and U.S. Marshals.

Abbott was booked into the Christian County Jail charged with several counts of trafficking meth firearm enhanced, trafficking marijuana and trafficking opiates, as well as possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and other offenses.
