Magistrates discussed budget cuts being taken at the Trigg County Senior Center and said thank you to four out-going members during their Monday evening meeting.
Judge-executive Hollis Alexander told magistrates the Pennyrile region has seen some major cuts to its senior citizen programs over the last two years.
Alexander adds Trigg County seniors deserve better than that.
Alexander says he will work hard to try and get donations for the senior center.
No action was taken by magistrates during the meeting.
Out-going magistrates Scotty Hampton, John Gray, and Jon Goodwin were thanked for their years of service on the fiscal court. Each of them was presented with a certificate of appreciation by Alexander.
Monday’s meeting was also the last for magistrate Donnie Tyler. Tyler has served Trigg County for 25 years on the fiscal court and did not run for re-election this year. Alexander presented him with a special award.
Tyler thanked everyone who has supported and helped him over the last 25 years.
New magistrates will be sworn-in during the next meeting according to Alexander.
Alexander also let magistrates know there will be a joint meeting with city, county, and tourism officials at the Renaissance Center on Thursday evening, January 10 beginning at 6:00 to discuss the idea of a community swimming pool.
