United Way Entering Final Week Of Annual Fundraiser

The United Way of the Pennyrile is nearing its final days of their yearly fundraising campaign.

As last-minute donations are coming in from individuals and businesses, the United Way is making a plea for donations to end the fundraiser on a strong note.

H&R Agri Power Owner Wayne Hunt says his business has always donated to United Way but he never understood the impact the organization has until he watched a presentation from Bright Life Farms in Princeton.

Bright Life Farms is a faith-based non-profit group home for mentally or developmentally challenged adults. The organization has a total of 24 residents and is one of the many organizations that receive donations from the United Way. Hunt adds his employees have always been good about donating but he wanted to do more for the organization.

Donations increased when Hunt matched what employees gave to the organization. He says in doing this it has brought his employees together in ways he never thought was possible.

The United Way of the Pennyrile annual fundraiser will come to a close on Thursday, January 17. Donations can be made to the organization by visiting pennyrileunitedway.org.Hunt and Guffey spoke to agriculture business leaders and owners during the monthly Christian County Agribusiness Association Meeting Tuesday afternoon at the Christian County Extension Office.
