A Cadiz man was charged after a fight with his girlfriend on Bassett Avenue in Hopkinsville Sunday morning.
According to a Hopkinsville police report, 32-year-old Louis Hopkins reportedly pushed his girlfriend 20-year-old Ariane Brown of Hopkinsville downstairs and broke her phone.
She allegedly swung a kitchen knife around in self-defense during the fight.
Hopkins fled and was found at a gas station on North Main Street by police and when they stopped him he tossed a backpack that had marijuana inside, he told police he found the bag on the street and it was not his.
He also told police he was stabbed and police found a small cut on his back. An ambulance was called and he was taken to the hospital.
He is charged with fourth-degree assault, intimidating a participant in legal process, second-degree criminal mischief, possession of marijuana and tampering with physical evidence.
