The name of the man killed in an officer-involved shooting in Clarksville Saturday morning has been released.
A TBI release says a preliminary investigation indicates that Clarksville Police officers responded to a wrecked vehicle call on Britton Springs Road around 9:45 Saturday morning. Witnesses told agents they saw a man and woman walking away from the crash, and when the officer found the couple matching the description, at the 1900 block of Batts Lane the man identified as 29-year-old Angel Burke ran. One officer stayed with the female and another officer pursued Burke who was armed with a handgun. At some point, of which the circumstances are still being investigated, Burke was reportedly shot by the officer during the foot pursuit. Burke was pronounced dead at a Clarksville hospital. No law enforcement officers were injured in the incident.
TBI agents are continuing to investigate the circumstances around the fatal shooting and are conducting interviews and evidence.
