An arrest has been made in connection to a bomb threat at the Caldwell County Courthouse on Tuesday.
According to a Caldwell County Sheriff’s report, a deputy arrested 20-year-old Candace M. Nelson, of Princeton, in conjunction with the bomb threat, just after noon on Friday.
The report states that investigators traced the multiple calls to a phone listed under Nelson’s name.
On Tuesday morning just before eleven, the courthouse received multiple calls concerning a bomb threat. The courthouse was then evacuated and several roads around Courthouse Square were blocked off while bomb-sniffing dogs from Kentucky State Police and the Owensboro Police Department searched the courthouse.
All businesses in the immediate area were also evacuated and people were kept off the sidewalks while law enforcement investigated. The investigation determined there was an unsubstantiated bomb threat and the courthouse was given the all-clear around 2:30 Tuesday afternoon. Downtown streets were then re-opened to all traffic.
Nelson has been charged with first-degree terroristic threatening and was lodged in the Caldwell County Jail.
The investigation is ongoing by the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office and Kentucky State Police.
