A director of a Hopkinsville non-profit was named the 2019 Fannie Bronson Postell Woman Of the Year during the Women’s History Month Celebration Thursday evening.
Women’s History Month Committee Chair Molly Lewis presented the award to Grace and Mercy Center Director Joanna Mack.
Lewis notes Mack has helped many when she noticed a need a few years ago for women to receive housing, training, and counseling after leaving the Christian County Jail.
Lewis adds Mack has made a positive impact in the lives of numerous families with the work she has done.
Mack says it is an honor to receive the award.
Other nominees for the award included: Kentucky Court of Justice’s Program 8 Pre-Trial Services Supervisor and Edge Media Group’s Ann Petrie, Planters Bank President Kelley Workman, and the Hopkinsville YMCA Pryme Tyme Team that consists of Angelique Victor and Erica Loving.
Women’s History Month Committee Member Bianca Crockam presented the $500 Women Educating Women Scholarship to Hopkinsville Community College student Lindsay Bourdreaux, who is currently taking classes to become a nurse.
During the event, Kentucky New Era Editor Zirconia Alleyne, District 1 Christian County Fiscal Court member Magaline Ferguson, Trilogy Center Director Holly Perez-Knight, and retired educator Fannie Louise Maddox discussed mentoring during the “She Talks” Panel.
The program was hosted by the Hopkinsville Human Relations Committee at the Performing Arts Center inside Christian County Middle School.
