Traffic Stop For Expired Tags Leads To Drug Arrest

A traffic stop on Sarah Avenue led to drug charges for a Hopkinsville man and woman Thursday night.

Hopkinsville Police say 32-year-old Timothy Berry was stopped on Sarah Avenue for an expired temporary tag and during the stop, he was extremely nervous and could not give police his driver’s license.

A police K9 alerted to the smell of a controlled substance in the vehicle and after a search, a bag of methamphetamine was found on the passenger seat of the vehicle.

Berry was also found to have a digital scale and marijuana on him. A passenger in his vehicle 30-year-old Tiffany Jones was also found to have baggies of methamphetamine and marijuana in her bra.

Both are charged with first-degree trafficking controlled substance and possession of marijuana. Berry was also charged with failure of non-owner to maintain required insurance and no or expired registration plates.

Both are lodged at the Christian County Jail.
