A Hopkinsville man was charged with fleeing from police and possession of drugs Sunday afternoon.
Hopkinsville Police say when they attempted to talk with 29-year-old Joshua Smith as he walked through a field on North O’Neal Avenue around 1 pm, he told them a fake name then fled on foot.
During the pursuit, he reportedly dropped his jacket that was found to have a pipe and synthetic drugs inside of it.
He was found under a porch on North Jessup Avenue and charged with second-degree fleeing or evading police, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of synthetic drugs and tampering with physical evidence.
He also had a warrant for probation violation. He is lodged in the Christian County Jail.
