Trigg County Magistrates Approve Jailer Budget For Next Fiscal Year

Trigg County Fiscal Court members heard and approved the budget from the jailer during Monday evening’s meeting.

Jailer James Hughes presented his 2019-2020 budget which has remained the same for the last few years.

Magistrates unanimously approved the budget which includes; $260,000 to pay contracts to house inmates in other counties since Trigg County does not have a jail, over $130,000 for the jailer and deputy jailer salaries, and nearly $10,000 for housing juveniles.

Judge/Executive Hollis Alexander informed members that the sheriff’s office recently hired a full-time Animal Control Officer.

Alexander also shared progress is continuing to be made on new AT&T cell phone towers throughout the county.

As we have previously reported, the towers will greatly help to improve cell services in portions of the county that have no service, at all.

In other news, magistrate Cameron Sumner says he will be hosting a public forum for anyone in the county on Monday evening, April 29.

The forum will take place at the Renaissance Center at 49 Jefferson Street and is expected to begin around 6:00.

The next Trigg County Fiscal Court meeting will be held on Monday evening, April 15 beginning at 6:00 inside the basement of the Trigg County Annex Building.
