New Murray State President Makes First Visit To PADD Meeting

The new Murray State University President says great things are happening at the institution.

College President Dr. Bob Jackson, who officially took the position on March 1, made his first visit to the Pennyrile Area Development Board of Directors meeting Monday afternoon.

Jackson notes the men’s basketball team had their best season in nearly 100 years.

Jackson says a national media source recently valued the amount of free advertising the college received during the historic basketball season.

He adds last week the Murray State Board of Regents approved to keep the team’s head coach Matt McMahon for next season.

Jackson notes the college is an essential part of economic development across the region.

There are several new programs being implemented at the college campus in Murray.

He adds the college will also serve in an important role in doing research on hemp and hemp-based products as the crop becomes more and more popular across the United States.

The PADD Board of Directors is made up of Mayors, Judge/Executives, and other community officials from Caldwell, Christian, Crittenden, Hopkins, Livingston, Lyon, Muhlenberg, Todd, and Trigg counties.
