Motorists who travel the U.S. 68 Eggners Ferry Bridge over Kentucky Lake in Trigg and Marshall counties need be aware of some planned lane closures and traffic shifts that began Monday as part of a two-month project. Kentucky Transportation Cabinet officials say this is to allow prep work and the application of a waterproofing epoxy.
Beginning at 10:00 Monday morning and on Monday morning, June 3, crews closed the eastbound bridge and converted the westbound bridge to two-way traffic to perform prep work and apply waterproof epoxy on the eastbound bridge.
Crews will close the westbound bridge beginning Sunday morning, April 28, at 10:00 and Monday morning, June 10, and convert the eastbound bridge to two-way traffic to perform prep work and apply waterproof epoxy on the westbound bridge.
Officials say crews will close the eastbound and westbound bridge for 18-24 hours overnight on Friday, April 26 and Friday, May 3rd.
During the 18-24 hour closures of U.S. 68-Kentucky Lake Bridge, officials advise motorists to detour U.S. 68 to Interstate 24. Motorists should expect delays and avoid the route if possible.
The project is expected to be completed by Saturday, June 22.
Officials say all work is subject to change depending on the weather, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.
