The public is invited to a groundbreaking ceremony next week at the new location for Joe Mumford Park. Hopkinsville Mayor Carter Hendricks made the announcement Monday that the ceremony will be Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 on Woodmill Road between Sharpe and East 18th streets.
Mayor Hendricks says they couldn’t be more excited to see construction of this important project begin and they look forward to offering a top-notch recreation facility for families throughout the community.
Christian County District 1 Magistrate Magaline Ferguson says the new park has been years in the making and is the result of determination, hard work, and dedication to the beautification of the neighborhood.
Joe Mumford Park is part of the Hoptown-Christian County WINS slate of projects authorized by Hopkinsville City Council. Officials say the $750,000 recreational development will feature a playground, full-sized basketball court, pavilion, restroom facilities, parking, play fields, and law areas for gatherings.
