November Races Set Following Tuesday Primary Election

While all eyes were on the gubernatorial race, there were some other big winners Tuesday night in other races for Secretary of State, Attorney General, Commissioner of Agriculture, State Auditor, and State Treasurer.

The Republican winner for Secretary of State is Michael Adams who will face off in November against the Democratic winner for the seat Heather French Henry.

The unofficial results showed Adams received over 41% of the votes while his Republican opponents Andrew English received over 27%, Stephen Knipper had more than 18% and Carl Nett carried over 13% of the votes.

Heather French Henry took over 70% of the votes, while her Democrat opponents Jason Belcher and Jason Griffith both received just over 13% and Geoff Sebesta only received 3.2% of the votes.

For Attorney General, there were two Republicans facing off in the primary. Daniel Cameron topped his opponent Will Schroder with 55% of the votes to Schroder’s nearly 45%. Cameron will now face former state House Speaker Greg Stumbo in November.

For State Auditor, three Democrats were vying for the position after candidate Drew Curtis withdrew from the primary race. Sheri Donahue topped her opponents, Kelsey Hayes Coots, and Chris Tobe. Donahue took nearly 47 percent of the votes compared to Coots more than 33% and Tobe’s nearly 20%. Donahue will now face incumbent State Auditor Mike Harmon in November.

Michael Bowman won the Democrat ticket for state treasurer and defeated Josh Mers by receiving over 66% of the votes compared to more than 33% for Mers. Bowman will run against incumbent Republican Allison Ball, who was unopposed in the November General election.

And current Ag Commissioner Ryan Quarles will face off in November against his Democratic challenger Robert Conway. Quarles defeated his Republican opponent Bill Polyniak by receiving more than 82% of the vote while Conway defeated his challenger Joe Trigg by taking nearly 60% of the votes.
