The Christian County Relay for Life raised over $101,000 during this year’s event which was moved from the Stadium to Champions to the Western Kentucky State Fairgrounds Convention Center due to the threat of rain and thunderstorms.
Relay Co-chair Pam Futrell says they had a wonderful turnout and raised about $30,000 during the event Friday night.
Barbara Dulin with the Walmart Transportation and Distribution Center team says they have had a Relay team for about 10 years and they sell corn on the cob to help raise funds.
Futrell expresses her gratitude for the Western Kentucky State Fairgrounds Convention Center for allowing them to use the facility when they had to change venues due to the weather forecast, as well as everyone who showed their support.
The Christian County Relay for Life began the week with a balloon release Monday at the Christian County Justice Center. Christian County Judge/Executive Steve Tribble and Hopkinsville Mayor Carter Hendricks read a proclamation declaring June 2 through 7 as Relay for Life Week in Christian County.
