Fiscal Court Approves Resolution To Apply For Development Grant

Trigg County Fiscal Court members voted Monday evening to adopt a resolution authorizing the filing of a Regional Development Agency Assistance Program proposal/grant application.

Judge/Executive Hollis Alexander says the money, which is a part of the 2018 Kentucky General Assembly House Bill 200, has to be directed back to the Cadiz-Trigg County Economic Development Commission so an Industrial Development Agency (IDA) can be formed.

Up to $50,000 could come back to the county for the IDA. The IDA would help to promote and carry out development efforts on behalf of residents in the county.

When asked if the City of Cadiz is still involved in the Cadiz-Trigg County Economic Development Council (EDC) Alexander notes they are but only on paper.

Magistrate Alana Baker raised some concerns if the city is not in on the joint EDC.

Magistrates approved the resolution.

In other business, magistrates also approved an update to the county’s administrative code to reflect recent changes concerning small purchases by local public agencies.

The new change in the Kentucky Revised Statue means the county would not have to seek bids on projects under $30,000. The law became effective on June 27.
