A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to reopen exit ramps at the I-24/Exit 4 intersection in Paducah this week.
Spokesman Keith Todd says the ramps at the U.S. 60 interchange are expected to open to traffic in the overnight hours Wednesday, five days ahead of schedule.
As we have previously reported, the ramps were closed on July 8 to allow final construction along the ramps, and asphalt paving at connecting points for a new Double Crossover Diamond.
Todd adds once the ramp reopens motorists need to be aware the work zone will continue to be active, with the project completion date set for November 20, 2019.
The Double Crossover Diamond is designed to improve safety and traffic flow along U.S. 60, near Kentucky Oaks Mall, by eliminating conflict points for left-hand turns and eliminating a phase at each traffic signal along with it.
