Trigg Sheriff’s Office To Enforce National Drive Sober Campaign

The Trigg County Sheriff’s Office is joining a national campaign to crack down on drunk drivers next week.

Sheriff Jason Barnes says the ‘Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over’ campaign, which begins August 16 and lasts through September 2, focuses on trying to reduce fatalities connected to drunk driving. He notes that they already aggressively look for drunk drivers, but by joining in on the effort roadways will be made safer through the Labor Day holiday.

Barnes adds his department hopes the campaign will serve as a reminder and that if anyone chooses to drive drunk, they will get arrested.

According to traffic data, there were more than 4,700 collisions involving alcohol in Kentucky, which resulted in more than 2,400 injuries and 87 fatalities last year.
