School districts across the state are getting ready for Kentucky High Attendance Day Tuesday. School officials say this day is used to annually emphasize that being in class and on time leads to success in education and life. Officials indicate attendance rates are important because students are more likely to succeed in academics and life when they attend school consistently.

According to studies, dropout patterns are linked with poor attendance, beginning as early as kindergarten and that a drop out student’s career income is less than 75% of those who graduate high school. Further, officials say school budgets suffer when student’s don’t attend. If a student enrolled at a school fails to consistently attend, the school has less money to pay for essential classroom needs.
